Memorial for Piper Day

The life of the homeless man will be commemorated at the Nyack Community Center Tuesday.

NYACK, NY — A Nyack resident with no fixed address is being mourned by members of the community who helped him with food and clothing, and by those who saw him pretty much every day at the Starbucks on Main Street.

According to Fios1 News, there will be a memorial for Piper Day at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nyack Community Center.

The cable news network reported that the table at Starbucks where Day usually sat is covered with cards and candles.

The Main Street Starbucks has seen such memorials before.

It was a haven for another one of the village's well-known homeless residents, whose death in 2008 was also commemorated by the locals, the New York Times reported at the time.
