Residents Approve $91,388,000 Proposed Budget For Nyack Schools
Incumbent and newcomer win spots on Board of Education, and 86.4 percent vote "yes" on Proposition 2, approving facilities upgrades.

NYACK, NY —Nyack Public Schools residents approved a 2021-22 school budget on Tuesday.
The $91,388,000 proposed budget was approved with 86 percent (967 votes) of the vote. The budget is an 0.78 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 0 percent hike in the school tax levy.
Residents of the district voted to fill two seats on the Board of Education. Karen Hughes, an incumbent, and John Duval were elected to three-year terms that will begin on July 1. This will be Hughes' fourth term.

Approximately 86.4 percent of voters (972 'yes' votes) were cast in favor of Proposition 2. This allows the district to use capital reserve funds from 2015 to redevelop the property at 366 N. Highland Ave. and make site improvements at Nyack High School in order to construct a new parking lot and reconfigure the entry/exit driveway to the school.
