NYACK, NY — Now that spring has sprung, Nyack officials have kicked off 13 weeks of events, specials in shops and restaurants, and family activities that will run all day, every day through June 20.

The Spring Fling includes prize raffles, scavenger hunts, a spring window decorating contest, and a customer 'Fan Card' for discounts at more than a dozen Nyack establishments.

What's more, 'Promenade' street closures will allow Spring Flingers to explore the village and enjoy Hudson River views on foot in a traffic-free open air mall setting. 'Promenades' will feature outdoor shopping and dining on April 18, May 9 and June 6, with rain dates reserved for following Sundays (April 25, May 16 and June 13).

"We're excited to offer an ongoing, uniquely 'Nyack' experience for residents and visitors," said Joe Rand, Village Trustee and event organizer. "Our businesses and civic organizations are stepping up with a rich variety of special offerings — plus, we're adding to the mix with fun activities like scavenger hunts, raffles and more."

Every Sunday, the Montefiore Nyack Hospitality Tent will be open to provide live, on-the-ground information and other services at Veteran's Memorial Park on the corner of Main and Cedar Streets in the center of town.

Flingers can go to the tent to pick up starter clues for the scavenger hunts, get information about the window decorating contest, and purchase fan cards and souvenir caps and t-shirts. The hospitality tent will also provide Nyack Safe Haven COVID-19 safety information.

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is sponsoring the tent as a way of thanking the community, said Dr. Mark E. Geller, MD, President and CEO, Montefiore Nyack. "At no time in our history were we challenged in a more profound way than during this past year," he said. "We sincerely hope everyone enjoys the Spring Fling in Nyack. It offers us all an opportunity to be together safely as we celebrate the strength and resilience of our community and its hospital."

Spring Fling has also received major sponsorships from many businesses:

  • The Rockland Community College Culinary Center, which will be hosting the VIP Cocktail party for donors and sponsors.
  • A collaboration of Nyack real estate brokers — Weld Realty, Wright Brothers Real Estate, Ready-to-Move (R2M) Realty, Howard Hanna | Rand Realty, and Rand Commercial — who will be providing real estate information and open house listings at the hospitality tent every Sunday.
  • A collection of leading Nyack businesses and individuals who have been closely involved in organizing Spring Fling: Maria Luisa boutique, Salonniere Coffee Shop, A&M Insurance Agency, Quantious, Hudson Market on Main, the Phyllis B. Frank Pride Center of Rockland County, and the Jacobs Family.

"Spring Fling is great for everybody," said Marcella Mazzeo, event manager and owner of Salonniere on South Broadway. "Our community of small businesses needs support, and our customers need a breath of fresh air. So Fling is a win-win for all of us."
