NYACK, NY — As the village's Spring Fling event continues, officials are starting their Promenade street closure Sunday for outdoor strolling, shopping and dining. All are invited.

The 13-week event includes specials in shops and restaurants, and family activities that will run all day, every day through June 20. It also includes prize raffles, scavenger hunts, a spring window decorating contest, and a customer 'Fan Card' for discounts at more than a dozen Nyack establishments.

The 'Promenade' street closures will allow Spring Flingers to explore the village and enjoy Hudson River views on foot in a traffic-free open air mall setting. 'Promenades' will feature outdoor shopping and dining on April 18, May 9 and June 6, with rain dates reserved for following Sundays (April 25, May 16 and June 13).

Every Sunday, the Montefiore Nyack Hospitality Tent will be open to provide live, on-the-ground information and other services at Veteran's Memorial Park on the corner of Main and Cedar Streets in the center of town.

Flingers can go to the tent to pick up starter clues for the scavenger hunts, get information about the window decorating contest, and purchase fan cards and souvenir caps and t-shirts. The hospitality tent will also provide Nyack Safe Haven COVID-19 safety information.

"Spring Fling is great for everybody," said Marcella Mazzeo, event manager and owner of Salonniere on South Broadway. "Our community of small businesses needs support, and our customers need a breath of fresh air. So Fling is a win-win for all of us."
