Promenade With Mom On Mother's Day In Nyack
Shops, restaurants, young entrepreneurs - there will be a lot of fun going on.

NYACK, NY — On Sunday, streets in the center of Nyack will be closed from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a Nyack-style 'Promenade' celebrating Mothers Day.
Nyack's restaurants will offer brunch, lunch and dinner, both indoors and outdoors. Shops and service establishments will be in high gear for last-minute shoppers (including Moms).
Additional family-friendly activities will include raffles, scavenger hunts, a poetry walk, live music, voting in Nyack's spring window decorating contest, an 'Art in the Garden' fine arts market and a 'young entrepreneurs' pop-up shop featuring cool stuff created by local kids ages 10 to 17.

The young entrepreneurs, sponsored by Maria Luisa Boutique, will pop up at 75 South Broadway offering everything shoppers could possibly want, from hand-made slime, mini pies, and hand-knit caps to original prints, miniature collectible horse figures with accessories, one-of-a-kind painted tiles, and teen fashion with a city flair and sustainability as a mission. The entrepreneurs will donate a percentage of their proceeds to the Center for Safety and Change.
“Not to underestimate the power of chocolate,” said Joe Rand, Nyack Village Trustee and event organizer. “In fact, Nyack has its own specialty chocolate shop right in the center of town, offering the best of curated domestic and European confections.”

To help visitors navigate and engage in the fun, a hospitality tent, provided by event sponsor Montefiore Nyack Hospital, will serve as celebration headquarters at Cedar and Main streets in the center of town. Visitors can go to the tent to get general information, enter the raffles, and pick up instructions about how to participate in scavenger hunts and contests.
"We're proud to have Montefiore Nyack Hospital as our lead sponsor, and to have generous support from many local businesses," said Roger Cohen, President, Nyack Chamber of Commerce.
About those raffles. Shoppers who save their receipts for purchases of $50 or more — for merchandise or personal services gift cards — can enter the special Mothers' Day raffle to win two tickets to Joey G's Nyack Food Tour, valued at $100. Then there's the ongoing Spring Fling raffle: Receipts of $20 or more (for any service, including restaurants) qualify to enter the weekly Spring Fling drawing held every Sunday. Raffle drawings are held at the tent at 3 p.m. every Sunday. For more details go to: Receipt Raffle on Visit Nyack’s website.
“Nyack makes Mothers’ Day a real occasion, with lots of special ways to honor Moms,” added Nyack Mayor Don Hammond. “We make it easy for spouses and kids to 'do the right thing,' and we offer a safe haven for everyone to enjoy the day with public health and safety as top priorities.”
The Mother's Day Promenade is part of the village's 2021 Spring Fling extravaganza. There's the Spring Fling Scavenger Hunts for kids of all ages. There's the Window Decorating Contest through May 31. There's the Nyack Library Poetry Walk. There's a new exhibit at the Nyack Historical Society — Toni Morrison: A Retrospective (reservations required). There are the Nyack Fan Cards good for discounts worth $100 at 15 establishments.
On Mothers' Day and every Sunday, parking is free throughout Nyack village. Offered by the RCC Hospitality and Culinary Arts Institute, the lot behind the Hudson Market on Main (on South Main behind the Market next to the firehouse) will be open to all visitors on Mothers' Day. This parking capacity adds to spaces in the open lots on Artopee and the new Marina lot at the bottom of Burd Street. Street parking is also widely available and free.
Masks and social distancing are required in Nyack shops and restaurants, and at Nyack’s outdoor events.
