Rockland Employee Accused Of Stealing Social Services Benefits
She falsely reported her household's size and its income, prosecutors allege.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A Stony Point woman is accused of illegally claiming social services benefits while working for Rockland County. Yolanda Wiley, 38, faces a charge of felony grand larceny, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced Friday.
Wiley is a Rockland County employee working for the Department of Social Services. She was arrested Feb. 10, by detectives from the Rockland County District Attorney's Office's Special Investigations Unit, who had been working with investigators from the Rockland County Department of Social Services, Walsh said.
She had been placed on administrative leave.

Wiley is accused of stealing $50,880.55 from the Rockland County Department of Social Services over the course of three-and-a-half years.
From Sept. 23, 2016 through Feb. 10, she is alleged to have falsely reported her residency, household composition, and household income to the Rockland County Department of Social Services to receive the money.

"It is disheartening to see a public employee violate their position to benefit themselves," Walsh said. "This is a prime example of my special investigations unit working together with the Department of Social Services to crack down on fraudulent claims. I appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication in this case and vow to continue these cases in the future."
