Suffern HS Football Player Nominated For Heart Of A Giant Award
The students were nominated by their coaches for their commitment, teamwork, character and dedication.

SUFFERN, NY — The 2019 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award presented by Hospital for Special Surgery and NY Giants announced their second set of 10 outstanding Tri-State area high school football player nominees open for voting. These students have been nominated by their coaches for their commitment, teamwork, will, character and dedication.
One of the nominees is Matthew Moise from Suffern High School in Rockland County.
Moise was pushing to be a two-way starter on the football team this fall, when unfortunately, his season prematurely ended due to a severe ACL knee ligament tear, according to a spokesperson. However, this malady has not deterred Matt from being a member of the team.
Head Coach Billy Delaney said, “when he is not at doctor appointments or in the athletic training room, Matt is at practice encouraging and cheering the team on!”
Moise’s joy avidly comes from his team. Moise said, “From little moments like seeing a teammate dance after scoring in practice, to great moments like seeing my team celebrate after a big win, my team has always been my joy and even my main purpose for continuing with the sport.”
While football brings joy to Moise, he loves bringing joy to others through serving the community and being involved in a club called Younglife.
Voting for these nominees will be open for 25 days with final vote tally determining who will be named the group’s finalist. One grand prize winner will be selected based on video submissions stating why they have the Heart of a Giant and will be honored on the field during a New York Giants’ home game. All six finalists and four honorable mention finalists will receive $1,000 for their high school’s football program, with the winner’s school getting an additional $9,000.
