Take Advantage Of A Warm Work Week In The Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — We're going to have warm weather this week, so there's still time to plant cold-weather vegetables and bulbs for spring flowers.

There's a lot to do in October, say the writers of the Hudson Valley Seed Company blog. "Get as much gardening in as you can this month!"

The warming trend will continue all week. High temperatures in the mid and upper 60s Monday, which is already a few degrees above normal, should reach the lower and mid-70s by Wednesday, 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

"Above-average temperatures are likely to continue through the latter half of the week as well across the Northeast as southerly winds continue to pump a warm and relatively humid air mass into the region," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham.

The National Weather Service offered this work-week forecast for northern Westchester:

• Monday night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Southeast winds around 5 mph.
• Tuesday-Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Highs around 70. South winds around 5 mph.
• Tuesday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 50s. East winds around 5 mph in the evening, becoming light and variable.
• Wednesday-Mostly cloudy. A chance of light rain or drizzle in the morning. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs in the lower 70s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Wednesday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s.
• Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s.
• Thursday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 50s.
• Friday-Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s.
• Friday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s.
