Travel Wisely in Rockland on Independence Day

Don’t get stuck in the hustle and bustle of holiday travel. The Rockland County Department of Public Transportation has announced its altered holiday transit schedule so you can keep your plans on track for Independence Day.

Here’s what they posted:

Wednesday, July 3rd

• Rockland County’s TAPPAN ZEExpress (TZx) bus service will provide additional buses on regularly scheduled afternoon departures to accommodate an expected early rush hour at the Tarrytown Metro-North Rail Station.

• Transportation of Rockland (TOR) and TRIPS, paratransit bus service for residents with physical or mental disabilities or who are aged 60 or over, will operate normal weekday service.

• Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan Lines) will operate normal weekday service.

• Coach USA Express (Shortline) bus service from the Exit 14 Park & Ride lot will operate regular morning and evening service. Early getaway buses will be added at 2:00 pm from 56th St. & 5th Ave. and at 2:00 & 2:30 pm from Wall Street.

• On NJT’s Main/Bergen Line, an early train will depart from New York’s Penn Station at 2:29 pm and from Hoboken at 2:45 pm. The Main/Bergen Line train that normally departs Penn Station at 6:03 pm and Hoboken at 6:11 pm will be cancelled.

• On NJT’s Pascack Valley Line, an early train will depart from Penn Station at 2:51 pm and Hoboken at 2:58 pm. The Pascack Valley Line train that normally departs Penn Station at 7:13 pm and Hoboken at 7:20 pm will be cancelled.

Thursday, July 4th:

• Transport of Rockland (TOR) bus routes will operate Sunday service.

• TZx buses will not operate.

• TRIPS Paratransit buses will operate ADA service only.

• Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan Lines) and Coach USA Shortline will operate Sunday service. Express routes will not operate. 

• Coach USA Express (Shortline) bus service from the Exit 14 Park & Ride lot will not operate.

• Clarkstown Mini Trans and Spring Valley Jitney buses will not operate.

• The Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will not operate.

• Metro-North trains and NJ Transit trains will operate Weekend service.

• Monsey Trails buses will operate a Special Holiday service.

Friday, July 5th:

• TOR, TZx, TRIPS, Clarkstown Mini Trans and Spring Valley Jitney buses will operate normal weekday service.

• Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan Lines) will operate modified Express routes, with fewer trips that normal. Local routes will operate Saturday service.

• Coach USA Express (Shortline) buses from the Exit 14 Park & Ride Lot will operate normal service.

• Metro-North trains will operate Saturday schedules with extra trains added. Go to www.mta.info for details.
