Voice Of McGruff The Crime Dog, Former Rockland Resident, Dies At 94
John "Jack" Keil was a creative director for Dancer Fitzgerald Sample advertising agency.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A former Rockland County resident and the voice of McGruff the Crime Dog has died at the age of 94. John “Jack” Keil died Aug. 25 in Westminster West, VT.
Keil was an advertising agency creative director whose them created the cartoon character McGruff and voiced the slogan “Take a Bite Out of Crime,” the Journal News said. He worked at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample advertising agency, and he and his wife lived in Grand-View-On-Hudson for 58 years before moving to Vermont.
