Scattered trees and tree limbs could be blown down. Use caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle, the NWS says.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for much of the region.

The advisory for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday. The advisory for Dutchess and Ulster counties is set to expire sooner, at 2 a.m.

"Hold onto your hats. While the rain has mostly moved out, winds increase in its wake," NWS forecasters said. "Sustained winds of 25-35 mph through the day can be expected, with gusts up to 55 mph at times. Be sure to secure any loose outdoor objects. While the morning is dry under mostly sunny skies, clouds develop later in the day and a scattered shower or two is possible into the evening hours. High temperatures top out in the mid-to-upper 60s regionwide."
