21-Year-Old Dies in Unexplained Crash on Route 9A

Only one day into 2014, Mt. Pleasant police reported an unfortunate driving death, 21-year-old Jasper Horecky.

LoHud.com reports that Horecky currently lived in Elmsford and had previously lived in Croton, Sleepy Hollow and Maine. The student at Westchester Community College recently started working at Elmsford's Westchester Skating Academy. His father reported to LoHud.com that his son may have been driving home from work when he died.

His father, reported Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray, was formerly a village trustee, as he included Horecky in a moment of silence before the board meeting. "Way too young," Wray said of the tragic loss.

Mt. Pleasant police reported the car was found 25 feet off Route 9A north of Dana Road at 1:37 a.m. Thursday morning; it had hit two telephone poles and Horecky was alone in the car. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash and describe the area at that time as dry and well lit.
