Lenoir Preserve, Dudley Street, Yonkers – (914) 968-5851. Family Campfire – 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Play nature games, learn about crepuscular and nocturnal animals, hear Native American stories, and make delicious s'mores over the fire. Bring chairs and a blanket.

Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland Park, Rye – (914) 967-8720. Fall Festival – Noon – 5 p.m. Birds of prey demonstration, live animals program, storytelling, pumpkin patch, live music, fun activities for kids, food, and more. Sponsored by the Friends of Read. Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Routes 35 and 121 South, Cross River – (914) 864-7322. Guided “Forest Bathing:” No Swimsuit Required! – 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. A leisurely guided walk with Jennifer Salkin, a certified forest therapy guide, to become aware of our five senses and help improve immune functioning, mood and increased ability to focus. Open to all levels of fitness.

Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers – (914) 864-7282. Going Batty! – 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. A night hike to learn all about these winged creatures and why they are great to have around. Pre- registration is required; suitable for ages 8 and up.

SUNDAY, Oct. 14

Bronx River Parkway, White Plains to Scarsdale – (914) 995-4050. Genesis Adventures Marathon – 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. A half-marathon (13.1 miles), 10-kilometer race (6.2 miles), and a kids run (1 mile). Registration and fees at genesisadventures.com.

Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers – (914) 864-7282. Muscoot Farmers Market – 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Shop the many local vendors who offer produce and food products every Sunday through mid-November.

Cranberry Lake Preserve, Old Orchard Street, North White Plains – (914) 428-1005. The Magnified Forest – 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Get up close and personal with the plants and animals of the preserve by using microscopes and hand lenses to observe specimens such as seeds, leaves and insects found near the nature lodge.

Marshlands Conservancy, Boston Post Road, Rye – (914) 835-4466. Opening of the 45th “Marshlands in Pictures” Photography Exhibit – 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Photos taken by local residents highlighting the beauty of the preserve on view weekends through 12/2.
