Croton-Harmon Fourth-Graders Impress with ‘Broadway Kids’

Carrie E. Tompkins ES students performed songs from 'Newsies', 'The Wizard of Oz', and more.

From Croton-Harmon School District: Fourth-grade students tackled classic musicals like “Newsies” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” as the culmination of their performing arts careers at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School during their Broadway Kids performance on May 11.

Set against the backdrop of posters they created in art class, each of the Croton-Harmon fourth-grade classes performed two musical numbers from their chosen musicals, which also included “The Wizard of Oz,” “School of Rock,” “Xanadu” and “All Shook Up.”

Directed by music teacher Marlena Peters, the numbers showcased students’ singing and dancing abilities to their younger peers, who will take part in their own Broadway Kids show in the coming years.
