Three retirees were applauded and awarded a plaque and flowers by the Board, each having served in the Transportation Department for a number of years. Transportation Supervisor Rochelle O’Mara said Eleanor Soderlund gave 10 years of dedicated service to the district as an attendant, noting, “she has really taken the time to get to know each and every [student].”

Sally DeOrio, who has worked in the district for 13 years, also celebrated her retirement. “She’s one of the people who is always in the background taking care of things, keeping everybody going, telling everybody what to do” said O’Mara. “She is going to be sorely missed every day.”
O’Mara, the Board and administration also paid special tribute to Virginia “Ginny” Tadlock, a 28-year employee who died weeks ago. Her daughter, Stacy Conklin-Chalk, accepted a plaque on her mother’s behalf.

“She was tough, but great,” said O’Mara. “Her presence is definitely missed every day.” Board President Iris Bugliosi said her children requested a gift for Tadlock every year, adding, “They wanted to let her to know how much they felt safe in her arms.”
Bugliosi noted that Croton-Harmon High School teacher Daniel Delaney, who will also retire at the end of the school year, was honored at a past meeting.
