Croton-on-Hudson Saturday: Goblin Walk, Fall Festival, Leaf Demo
Don't miss the pre-Halloween fun!
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Saturday is a big day in the village of Croton for kids and adults alike. For one thing, it's almost Halloween, and time to put the costumes on.
The annual Goblin Walk starts at noon. Gather at the Municipal Building on Van Wyck Street and march down the Post Road and Grand Street to Vassallo Park.
Judging categories include: Best Overall Boy Costume, Best Overall Girl Costume, Scariest, Most Creative, and Best Family Theme. At the end of the parade, tricks and treats will be waiting for everyone at the park. In case of rain, the Goblin Walk will be relocated to an indoor site.

Also starting at noon, and not far away, the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School PTA will hold its annual Fall Festival. Go in costume and get a door prize. There will be local food vendors, crafts with the Girl Scouts, carnival booths/games, bouncy house/slides and much more, plus live entertainment from Croton's own Adam Auslander and balloon decor from the Westchester Balloon Company!
For the homeowners in the crowd, there's the Leave the Leaves Demonstration in Vassallo Park at 12:30 p.m. The village's Conservation Advisory Council’s Tree Committee will explain and demonstrate the practice of leaf mulching. Homeowners and landscapers are invited to see how leaves can be mulched, chopped, composted and more.
