How did you come up with the name?
Peggy founded the business over 35 years ago and it was always meant to be a place for students work on this art and foster their passion for dance, therefore, “workshop” seemed to be the best name for the studio.
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
After relocating from Yonkers to Montrose, II wanted to invest in my new community. I hoped to find a home for my school in a town that would embrace and support the creative arts. Eventually TDW found that home in Croton and has been thriving there for over twenty years.
Briefly, what business are you in?
Dance Education
Were there any challenges that made you second-guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
Working evenings with four young children is never ideal. It is difficult to not be home for homework, dinner and bath time, but with the endless support of my husband and family I was able to pursue my dream and achieve my goal of establishing a studio with quality dance education with an atmosphere that is conducive to achievement.
What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
The moment my youngest daughter decided that she was going to pursue dance education as her career. Danielle is now part owner of TDW. It fills me with pride to watch her build upon my dream making it her own and expanding all while striving for excellence in dance education.
What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
The creation of our mini dance boutique with dance wear and customized merchandise.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
We always listen to the concerns of our customers and try to work with them to address any issues they maybe having.
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
