Dominican Sisters Family Health Service Names John A. Salandra Chief Financial Officer

Dominican Sisters Family Health Service, Inc., a leading visiting nurse service providing home healthcare, has announced the appointment of John A. Salandra as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Salandra has served more than 30 years at New York metropolitan area hospitals and nursing homes in various senior financial capacities and 17 years as a CPA at two independent public accounting firms.

Prior to joining Dominican Sisters, Mr. Salandra was responsible for the development of a health care audit, accounting, tax and consulting practice for a regional public accounting firm, and for financial accounting and reporting of monthly and annual financial statements specific to hospitals, multi-hospital systems, and nursing homes with revenues ranging from $30 million to $600 million. He also worked with specific reimbursement experts in reviewing third-party receivables/liabilities specific to acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing units to ensure all potential receivables/liabilities were properly reflected.

Mr. Salandra received his BBA in Accounting from Iona College. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is the former President of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for St. Jerome’s Health Services Corporation and Bishop Francis J. Mugavero Center for Geriatric Care, Inc. He also served as the Treasurer, member of the Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Finance and Compliance Committees for the Dominican Sisters Family Health Service for approximately 30 years.
Dominican Sisters Family Health Service (“DSFHS”) is a community-based Joint Commission Certified Home Health Agency providing home nursing care and health related services in the Greater New York Metro Area and Hudson Valley and Long Island. DSFHS currently serves Westchester, Bronx, Suffolk, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Nassau, Putnam, Rockland and Orange. DSFHS traces its roots back to 1879 when Mary Walsh and a dedicated group of women living and working on New York City’s West Side began helping immigrant mothers care for infants and sick family members.
