Police Make Felony DWI Arrest In Pearl River

The driver is from New Jersey and his license to drive in New York was suspended twice, police said.

PEARL RIVER, NY — A Wanaque, New Jersey man was charged with felony drunken driving after police said they saw him driving west in the eastbound lanes on Washington Avenue in Pearl River.

Orangetown police said they stopped the driver at 4 a.m. Sunday on West Washington Avenue, and while talking to him concluded he was intoxicated.

A check of his drivers license revealed he had a previous conviction for DWI within the past 10 years, and also that his privilege to drive in New York had been suspended twice.

John A. Kester, 35, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He was released and is due in Orangetown town court Feb. 4.
