Grant Allows Croton Students to Experience Hands-on History

Seventy fourth graders traveled to Sleepy Hollow for a lesson in colonial economics at Philipsburg Manor this week.

Croton-on-Hudson fourth graders were treated to a special field trip Monday at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow.

There, the students participated in the "Millers and Merchants" program, designed to teach the group about the roles of those involved in the colonial economic system, according to a post on Patch.

The opportunity was made possible by a $20,000 grant awarded to Philipsburg Manor and Van Cortlandt Manor by First Niagara Foundation, according to the post.
