Hazardous outlooks have been issued by the National Weather Service for the Hudson Valley. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in Dutchess and Ulster counties Friday afternoon, then a prolonged period of heat and humidity is expected to start Saturday across the region.

The National Weather Service said dangerous heat conditions are expected to develop Sunday and Monday.

Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year and even more heat-related illnesses, the NWS said. See what to do during an excessive heat wave.
