Heat Advisory Till 8PM; Storms Possible In Hudson Valley
Humidity will climb even higher at midweek.
The heat advisory Monday for the Hudson Valley and NYC metro area is in effect until 8 p.m. Highs are forecast in the upper 80s to lower 90s with heat indices for many locations near 95 to 100.
The humidity will drop slightly in the afternoons and climb highest at night through the middle of the week.
Highs Tuesday are expected to reach mid 80s to near 90 with heat indices into the lower 90s.

The two biggest issues: extreme heat can cause illness and death among at- risk population who cannot stay cool. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.

Health officials recommend:
Use air conditioning to stay cool at home, or go to a place that has air conditioning. Check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors. Schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.
The hour-by-hour forecast shows the chance for storms is low and the humidity will be very high.
