Hudson Barter Exchange Brings Networking Event to Ossining
Mike Risko Music School Hosts Spring Network Mixer
Over 75 entrepreneurs mingled, networked and exchanged business cards at the Hudson Barter Exchange Spring networking event held in Ossining at the Mike Risko Music School last week. While making contacts to help grow their business attendees were entertained with a live performance from the Mike Risko Band, who recently joined the Hudson Barter Exchange. Members were also treated with food sampling by Good-Life Gourmet, wine tasting with Millbrook Winery, and magic by Magical Memories Entertainment.
The Hudson Barter Exchange was established in 2008 by Tarrytown couple, Karen and Kevin Brown, whose vision was to help local companies use their excess capacity to help grow their cash business. According to the duo, business owners in the Tri-State area were working at 75% capacity and had many open appointment slots, empty seats, unsold tickets, excess inventory, and idle production time. The goal the Hudson Barter Exchange was to bring incremental business to companies by marketing them to each other and having them do business on the basis of barter. Today the Hudson Barter Exchange has grown to over 525 members throughout the region and also trades with 800 other exchanges across the US and around the world.
The Hudson Barter Exchange, also known as HBX hosts three big networking events a year to give their members a chance to really explore their bartering options. “Most business owners have bartered in the past and they always felt like they got a raw deal when it came time to collect on the promise,” says Karen Brown, co-owner. Hudson Barter eliminates that issue as every business works at their prevailing rate, earns Barter Bucks equal to the cash value of their work and spends them with any other member of the exchange.”

Members of HBX consistently trade for advertising, web design, SEO, office cleaning, IT work, printing, car service, accountants, lawyers, dentistry, HVAC, travel, summer camps, and tickets to all kinds of sporting events, concerts and theater. “There are two ways for a business owner to increase the profitability of their business. Increase their customer base and reduce their cash expenses. We help companies do both.” says Kevin Brown, Chief Exchange Operator. There are hundreds of services available through barter at HBX and thousands around the Tri-State area. For more information visit the Hudson Barter Exchange at www.hudsonbarterexchange.com
