HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Forsythia and farmers markets — two ways to know it’s spring. Down To Earth Markets puts it just right:

First come the sprouts and blooms to fill out the display of winter apples and root vegetables, then come the early harvests of ramps and asparagus, and then we start zooming past season landmarks — strawberries, peas, spinach — toward summer. Eating with the seasons means appreciating where we are now.

Hudson Valley Regional Farmers’ Market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays year-round, 15 Mount Ebo Road South.

Cold Spring
The market stays indoors till the end of April. At St. Mary’s In The Highlands Church, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays. Summer: at Boscobel.

Rockland

Haverstraw

Starting May 25, the Haverstraw Farmers’ Market is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays outside Village Hall on Maple Avenue.

Nyack
Open year-round, the Farmer’s Market moves to the village’s main municipal parking lot Thursday. After wintering at the Nyack Center, the market is opening with spring harvests from local farms, as well as specialty goods and an array of artisanal products. The outside market runs through Dec. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. Free parking is available during Market hours in the Artopee lot adjacent to the Market. Street parking is always free in Nyack up to 11 a.m.

Piermont
On April 28, The Souk at the Outside In will introduce the new Piermont Farmer’s Market which will take place at the M&T Bank parking lot in the heart of Piermont every Sunday from 10 – 3.

Westchester

Chappaqua
Through April, the Chappaqua Farmers Market will stay inside at the First Congregational Church in Chappaqua, 210 Orchard Ridge Road off of Route 117. Every 1st and 3rd week of the month through April. For directions to the indoor market click here. To see the dates click here.

Cortlandt Manor
The NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital Farmers Market changes to bi-monthly from April to November. In the hospital’s main lobby, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Route 202.

Larchmont

8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays, April 27 through Dec. 28, MTA Upper Lot, Chatsworth Avenue.

New Rochelle

  • Down to Earth market, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fridays, June 7 through Nov. 22, North Avenue at Sicard Avenue.
  • Grand Market, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 1 through Oct. 26, Library Green at Ruby Dee Park.

Ossining
The market is open year-round, with spring hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through May 4. It operates Saturdays at the parking lot on the corner of Spring and Main streets. Ossining’s own Brothers Fish & Chips is a new vendor.

Peekskill
The indoor market continues through April 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at 925 South St., one block from the gazebo.

Pleasantville
The farmers market moves outside this Saturday! 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays until December in Memorial Place. Village staff will be posting signs in Memorial Plaza to alert drivers of the seasonal parking restrictions.

Rye
8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays, May 12 through Dec. 8, parking lot Theodore Fremd Ave.

Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow
8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, May 25 through Nov. 23, Patriots Park.

White Plains
8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays, opening April 24; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays, opening May 18, Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street.
