Hudson Valley Forecast: Heat Advisories Updated
The combination of heat and humidity could make it feel above 100 degrees and could persist through mid-week.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Heat advisories have been updated for the region as heat index values up to 102 are expected in southeast New York and portions of northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut on Monday.
The heat advisories extend until 8 p.m. Tuesday, but the National Weather Service warned Monday morning that they could probably be extended into Wednesday.

This is part of a swath of hot and steamy weather in the mid-Atlantic and New England through Wednesday as a Bermuda high-pressure system ushers consistent southerly winds up the East Coast, the NWS reported. High temperatures are forecast to reach the low-to-mid 90s from Virginia to Maine, with heat indices into the triple digits.
Meanwhile, the NWS says the hottest temperatures of the ongoing historic heat wave are expected across the Pacific Northwest Monday, before the core of the unprecedented heat shifts into interior sections of the region on Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures are forecast to soar 30+ degrees above average throughout Washington and north-central Oregon to start the workweek, with temperatures peaking in the 100s and 110s. Low temperatures are expected to remain very warm and in the mid-70s, which can make it even more difficult to stay cool. Extreme heat will remain and build farther inland across the Northern Great Basin this week, extending into most of Idaho and western Montana on Tuesday.

A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.
- Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk.
- Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.
- Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning.
- Check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.
Those who plan to travel by car should prepare their vehicle before hitting the road. Always travel with a spare battery, and avoid leaving radios, phone chargers and other accessories running when the engine is not, Westchester officials said. Check to make sure your air conditioning is properly functioning and coolant is at the proper level. If you plan to travel in less populated areas, bring water and an umbrella for shade if it becomes necessary to leave the car. Always keep air flowing throughout the vehicle, and try to park in the shade.
Temps should cool down Thursday and Friday.
