I endorse Judge Mike Tawil for Ossining Town Justice

Former Ossining Village Trustee, Deputy Mayor and community leader and organizer stands with Judge Michael Tawil.

I am writing to endorse Judge Mike Tawil for re-election to his current position as Ossining Town Justice. As a Latino who has lived in this community my entire life, me and my entire family have known Judge Tawil for 14+ years. I have known Judge Tawil to be fair, honest and compassionate. It has been my experience and the experience of other people both inside and outside and the Latino community that Judge Tawil has a well-deserved reputation for being fair and just to all people our community. He is particularly well-known in communities of color and the Hispanic Community as a judge who is fair and does not discriminate against anyone based on who they are or where they come from. And notably, he actually has lived here for 17 years and has invested his time, energy and resources for the betterment of all in our community (that matters).

I was not surprised when the Ossining Town Council unanimously appointed Judge Mike Taw to the one year vacancy ....

I commend Judge Tawil for sticking with an honest campaign as his opponent and the Ossining Town Democratic machine (Party) continue a smear campaign (as they usually do if you dare to primary) . Trust me when I say- I understand who, how, what and why goes into the local democratic party when they decide you are no longer for them or not follow lock-step, or aren't a perfect flawless human being.

We definitely have many "Aunt Lydia's." who really deputize themselves on what morals should mean without looking in the mirror and how they should be enforced. Trust me- they have come after me (well tried) and will come after me after they read this letter (yikes).

I have been an active (or some would say former insider gone rogue) Ossining Town Democratic Committee member and elected district leader for over 10+ years and I was present the night of the endorsement vote. Judge Tawil's remarks for the nomination showed how he thinks about the people standing before him are affected by his ruling. The one thing that stood out to me the most was when he said:

"I don't think that anyone wants to be judged by anyone who has never made a mistake before. Having made my own mistakes makes me a better judge" -Judge Michael Tawil

People in the community know that if you go in front of Judge Tawil you'll be heard fairly. You can truly tell he is an emphatic judge. Don't let politics and grandstanding going on now and the days to come confuse you. Join me in voting for vote for Judge Tawil!
