OSSINING, NY — Riverkeeper, the pre-eminent environmental activist organization in and for the Hudson Valley, has a new membership drive going, and they've tapped a star to talk about tap water.

@Riverkeeper #Unfiltered features impassioned, unscripted commentary from notable New Yorkers and environmentalists including Kevin Bacon, Andy Cohen, Fabien Cousteau, James Cromwell, Rachael Harris, Arliss Howard, Rosie Perez, Mark Ruffalo, Fisher Stevens, Cecily Strong and Debra Winger, with each talented participant providing their own take on the state of one of New York’s most vital resources.

Cecily Strong asks if she would die from drinking a glass of tap water in her deadpan comedic style and Rosie Perez and Fisher Stevens urge their Brooklyn neighbors to get involved as part of the campaign commentary.

“As New Yorkers, we have to take ownership of all our waterways, all of them, and that’s why Riverkeeper is so important,” said Perez, also including a rallying cry of “Brooklyn stand up!”

The campaign launches as a culmination of Riverkeeper’s 50th anniversary celebration year, which also included the Riverkeeper Fishermen’s Ball, honoring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ralph Lauren as “Big Fish” with special honors for Riverkeeper’s 2016 “Hudson Hero” Robert De Niro as well as “Big Fish Emeritus” Howard Rubin.

“The first 50 years at Riverkeeper were all about undoing the damage of the past," Riverkeeper President Paul Gallay said in a press release. "The next 50 years will be about bringing the Hudson back to its glory and assuring that we all have clean, abundant drinking water, no matter who we are or where we live. We hope to see the Riverkeeper “Unfiltered” campaign reach a new generation of New Yorkers and inspire them to protect this most precious resource.”
