Maple Sugaring: Sap to Syrup – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Lenoir Preserve, Dudley Street, Yonkers – (914) 968-5851. Sweeten up your Saturday morning! Educators will demonstrate both traditional and modern methods of making maple syrup. Taste testers are welcome to try samples and, if the weather allows, guests can try sugar snow.

Sugaring Off Party and FriendRaiser – 12 noon – 3 p.m. Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Routes 35 and 121 South, Cross River -- (914) 864-7322. Enjoy winter's sweet rewards at this annual celebration that offers food, music and sugaring demonstrations all day. Co-sponsored by the Friends of Trailside Nature Museum.

Sugaring at Muscoot – 12 noon – 3 p.m. Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers – (914) 864-7282. Sugarin' is in full swing at the farm. Watch how maple sap is turned into syrup.

Creature Connections – 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland Park, Rye – (914 967-8720. Discover how animals and their habitats are linked as you explore the food web, life cycles, and predator-prey relationships in this live animal program presented by naturalist Anthony Cogswell. Sponsored by the Friends of Read Sanctuary.

Volunteer Work Project: Inspecting Osprey Island – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Marshlands Conservancy, Boston Post Road, Rye – (914) 835-4466. Great for any type of service credit hours. Please bring work gloves. All hand tools will be provided.

SATURDAY – SUNDAY, MARCH 9 - 10

Project Feeder Watch – 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Croton Point Nature Center, Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson – (914) 862-5297. Identify and count birds at the nature center's bird feeders. Beginners encouraged, all welcome! Saturday and Sunday mornings through March. Go to projectfeederwatch.org.

SUNDAY, MARCH 10

Sugarin’ Off – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers – (914) 864-7282. It's the last day of sugaring at Muscoot. Enjoy the maple festival as you watch the sugaring process, taste some maple treats and enjoy entertainment.

Get Growing with Houseplant Propagation – 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Route 35, Somers – (914) 864-7268. Indoor plants have already started active growth in response to increasing daylight. Explore a variety of propagation techniques that will help you to increase your houseplant collection. Sea-plore the Seashore --- 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Marshlands Conservancy, Boston Post Road, Rye – (914) 835-4466. Explore the shoreline of beautiful Milton Harbor at the conservancy and learn the ecological connections within the salt marsh through plant and animal discoveries.
