Obituary: Peter Tuttle Of Crotonville

A Vietnam vet, he worked for the Ossining Public Works Department and was a volunteer firefighter.

Peter Tuttle died peacefully on Thursday at The Briarcliff Manor Center Rehabilitation and Nursing after succumbing to Small Cell Lung Cancer. Peter, son of Jean and Donald Tuttle lived most of his life in Crotonville, NY.

He attended Ossining, Croton and Hendrick Hudson High School and Northern Westchester Putnam BOCES Technical Center where he earned an Auto Mechanic degree. Peter was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Navy from 1974-1978 as an Aviation Mechanic and Power Plant Specialist. Peter worked for the Village of Ossining from 1983 – 2000 as a mechanic for the Highway and Police Departments.

Peter owned his own business, PT Contracting Land and Home Improvement. He was a member and Ex-Foreman of Ossining Hose Company where he served as a Firefighter from 1995-2009 and continued as a Driver and Trainer. Peter was a member of Parker Bale VFW Post 1597 in Crotonville.

Peter is survived by his younger brother David (“Bobbi” Roberta), two nieces Tara and Katie, and two nephews Timothy and Jake. Peter is predeceased by his mother, Jean his father, Donald and older brother Tim.

Peter loved his family, his property in the woods, skiing, and his Jeep.

He had a heart of gold and would lend a hand without hesitation to someone in need.

Pete did not want a service, wake or funeral, he wanted to be remembered in life not death.
