Ossining Businesses, Families & Organizations Partake in a National Day without Immigrants
National campaign urging immigrants, regardless of legal status to show the importance of their contribution to society & economy.
On Thursday, February 16th Ossining was not fully operational, as many communities throughout Westchester County, New York State & the nation. This was part of a national campaign urging immigrants, regardless of legal status to show the importance of their labor, social structure and impact on the economy through boycotting.
It still remains unclear who, when and where this idea came to be but in a matter of days the message to stage a historic boycott entitled: The National Day without Immigrants,” went viral. Residents, businesses of all levels, organizations, advocates, activists and leaders embraced the idea and urged people to participate in some way, here are a few examples:

The Ossining community is known for having a significant immigrant population, a trait that is embraced ad protected. Many Ossining immigrants own, manage; employ many of Ossining’s very own businesses, organizations and offices.
