Ossining Mourns Mom Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Route 9
Police said her car was hit in Peekskill by a Yorktown man under the influence of alcohol driving north in the highway's southbound lanes.

OSSINING, NY — Members of the Ossining community gathered Sunday at Louis Engel Park to commemorate the life and mourn the death of Shina M. McClam, who was killed Dec. 23 in a crash on Route 9 in Peekskill.
New York State Police have accused the other driver of driving the wrong way while drunk.
McClam, 32, died in the crash. Her two passengers, her 6-year-old daughter and her 18-year-old niece, both sustained serious injuries. Police believed them to be non-life-threatening. The 18-year-old was transported to Westchester Medical Center by ambulance, and the 6-year old was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for further care.

Police: Wrong-way Driver Charged After Fatal Route 9 Crash
Police said Mark E. Cope, 41, of Yorktown, was driving north in the southbound lanes in a 2018 Audi when he smashed into the 2020 Acura driven by McClam. Police said their investigation revealed Cope was under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged with 1st-degree Vehicular Manslaughter, a class C felony.
