Ossining Nursing Home To Close After 105 Years In Business

According to Victoria Home, it will begin transferring residents to a new home of their choice on Aug. 24.​

OSSINING, NY—A nursing home in Ossining is permanently closing its doors after more than a century in business. According to the New York Department of Labor, Victoria Home will officially close for business on Oct. 23. One-hundred ten workers will be affected by the closure, the department reported.

According to the nursing home, it will begin transferring residents to a new home of their choice on Aug. 24.

"This decision has not been made lightly, especially considering that Victoria Home has endured numerous monumental changes in its 105-year history as a not-for-profit provider," read a statement from nursing home representatives.

The nursing home was founded in 1915 by the Daughters of the British Empire. Victoria House is one of only four DBE-chartered Homes in the United States. Representatives for the nursing home did not say why the facility planned to close.

"Victoria Home has provided 5-star care to our residents over many years, and we expect this to continue until our last resident is relocated. The next few weeks will be a trying time for everyone at Victoria Home. We will do our best to get our residents through this with compassion, dignity and grace that Victoria Home is known for," nursing home representatives said.

According to the nursing home, its facility is able to accommodate 49 full-time male and female residents.
