Ossining Police Probe Transaction That Proved Fatal
A Cortlandt man was apparently fatally injured by someone trying to drive away, police said.
OSSINING, NY — A Cortlandt man was killed Sunday and Ossining police said it appeared to be a result of a transaction gone wrong.
Police said they were called at 4 p.m. about a pedestrian struck by a car on James Street. They didn't find a car or person there, though there were signs of a collision, so they searched the village. On South Highland Avenue they found an injured, unconscious person inside a vehicle.
They identified him as Samuel Fiakor, 23. Fiakor was treated by paramedics and taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident — in Sleepy Hollow.
Police said according to their preliminary investigation, the driver of that vehicle had arranged to meet Fiakor on James Street to conduct a legitimate transaction of property. However, they said, it appeared that Fiakor entered the passenger side of the vehicle and displayed a handgun in a robbery attempt.
