With coronavirus rates down and vaccination rates up, school administrators are making plans.

OSSINING, NY — Ossining school officials are gathering feedback from parents to determine the interest in sending their child back to school 5 days a week.

Click here to take part in a brief survey for families with children in Brookside and Claremont elementary schools, Roosevelt School, Anne M. Dorner Middle School and Ossining High School. Park School continues to be open five days a week for instruction.

"As more of our staff members receive the vaccine, we have a renewed hope that all of our students and staff members will be together again soon," Schools Superintendent Ray Sanchez wrote Thursday in an email to the community. "I want to take a moment to thank our dedicated staff, amazing students and extraordinary parents who have been so supportive of our District during this time. I am optimistic that together we can continue to explore options for our students to return 5 days a week."

He told Patch that district officials are working with Westchester County to expedite staff access to the coronavirus vaccine.

"At this time all of our staff members are eligible for the vaccine via Phase 1B," he said. "While we are happy to share that some of our staff members have received the vaccine, others are still trying to access appointments."

The district staff is exploring reopening protocols, and Sanchez said he will bring more groups together to work on details.
