Hurricane Dorian Hudson Valley: Heading North
Here's what forecasters predict the effect of what is again a Category 3 hurricane will be on the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Hurricane Dorian, which strengthened again to a Category 3 hurricane, is forecast to swing well east of the mid-Atlantic coast on Friday. The Hudson Valley may get some rain, but wind gusts should max out at about 15 mph.
"This weekend the hurricane will be a shell of what it once was in the subtropics: The most intense hurricane in terms of wind on record for so far north over the Atlantic," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
The biggest impacts are likely to be felt along the coast, he said, "People spending time at the beaches or in small craft should use caution, especially on Friday and Saturday. Dangerous seas and surf are likely with coastal flooding in areas with northern and eastern exposure to the water."

Thursday morning the storm was crawling northward at a speed of about 8 mph and was located about 70 miles south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina as of 8 a.m.
The National Weather Service says rain is likely Friday. The center of Hurricane Dorian will pass well to the south and east. The primary effects from from Dorian should be confined to coastal sections, with potential for high surf, dangerous rip currents, and minor coastal flooding. Plus it will be cool.

On Saturday Dorian should be well to the northeast, leading to clearing skies on a diminishing northwest wind. Temperatures should average near to slightly below normal to begin the weekend.
- Friday-A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. East wind 13 to 16 mph.
- Friday Night-Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 58. Northeast wind 16 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Saturday-Partly sunny, with a high near 77. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
- Saturday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.
- Sunday-Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
- Sunday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.
