Mieles fled but surrendered to police four days later. An indictment was handed down in March 2019.

Speculation in Ossining right afterward centered around whether the two were teens and if the shooting was gang-related. Neither was true, police said during the investigation.

Assistant District Attorney Lana Hochheiser, Deputy Chief of the Homicide Bureau, is prosecuting the case.
