"A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered."
Obituary originally published on January 24, 2021: Conrad Carl Ellingson, age 75, lost his battle with COVID-19 on January 18, 2021. Conrad was born January 16, 1946, the son of Edwin and Esther Ellingson. He married the love of his life Judith Riley on May 7, 1966.
He worked as a Master Plumber, owning his own business for 18 years. He was a volunteer fireman in DeForest, Wisconsin and after moving to New York became an Associate member of the Ossining Fire Department. He was a founding member of the DeForest Jaycee’s and was a member of the Elks and Moose organizations. His retirement years were spent traveling and cruising and living between Florida, New York, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
He loved being with people, was a one of a kind guy who was willing to help anybody with anything, and made everyone he knew feel special. He enjoyed spending time at their cottage located on Long Lake in Plainfield WI. He spent many hours fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and his nightly vodka. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his lifelong love, Judy ,and his daughters and grandchildren. He wouldn’t miss any opportunity to spend time with his family whether it was a sporting event, dance recital, round of golf or playing a game of cards. His family meant everything to him and he meant everything to his family.
Survivors include his wife Judy, children Sherry Jahoda (Butch), Shelly Farrell (Donnie), Tamara Haessler/Conti (Joe), and Traci Centofanti (Anthony) who was like a daughter to him; his grandchildren Amanda, Megan, Mackenzie (Rachel), Dan, Kelly, Samantha (Anthony), Kaitlin, Jake, Joey, Julia, Kyle and a great granddaughter Saylor Grace. He is also survived by his brothers Ron (LouAnn), Reed (Joanne), Greg (Kim), his sister Brenda (Bill) Lynch, sister-in-law Jeanne (Jim) Hoffman and many nieces and nephews.
Conrad was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Dale and Wade) and two sisters (Helen and Lois).
He had the best smile and gave the best hugs. It’s really hard to believe he’s gone. We know he’d be with us today if heaven wasn’t so far away.
Memorials in his honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
