Wintry Mix Friday AM Then Snow Showers, Deep Freeze Hit The HV
A hazardous outlook has been issued for Orange and Putnam counties to begin another wild week of winter weather.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A minor snowfall (compared to what dumped on the region at the beginning of the week) could nonetheless cause problems Friday morning in the Hudson Valley.
That's just the beginning of another wild week of winter weather.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous outlook for Orange and Putnam counties, saying "For Friday morning around the time of the morning commute a light snowfall is expected. The snow is expected to change to rain, but before it does so a trace of ice is possible."

- In Orange County, less than an inch of snow is expected, as it will possibly mix with rain after 10 a.m., then gradually end.
- For Putnam, new snow accumulation could amount to an inch.
- For Dutchess and Ulster counties: Rain and snow showers are likely before 2 p.m., then a slight chance of rain showers between 2 and 3 p.m. Snow accumulation under an inch.
- Southern Westchester: Rain with a chance of snow in the morning, then a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation.
- Northern Westchester: Snow and rain likely in the morning, then a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation.
- Rockland: Rain and snow, mainly in the morning. Snow accumulation around an inch.
"Between the generally light precipitation amounts and the temperatures being above freezing … it looks mostly like a nuisance event," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.
Temperatures will begin to drop on Saturday as a blast of Arctic air aims toward the region. On Sunday, show showers mixed sometimes with rain are expected across the Hudson Valley. Snow showers are also possible Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night and Wednesday.

On Thursday, high temps will be in the high 20s.
