278 Customers Still without Power: O&R
Utility crews worked through the night to deal with Monday's devastating, damaging winds.

PEARL RIVER, NY — With fewer than 300 customers still without power, Orange & Rockland Utilities focused on the last vestiges of Monday's devastating winds that left 19,000 customers without power at one point or another.
Several isolated outages still exist throughout the region, but the biggest clusters of outages as of 8:15 a.m. Tuesday were in Wesley Hills, Brownsell Corner and Bardonia in Rockland County, and in West Milford, NJ.
As the increasingly severe winds raked the region and damaged the overhead electric system, O&R crews and contractors began making repairs and restoring service at dawn Monday. O&R upgraded its mobilization status to Storm Alert at 2 p.m. Monday and deployed all available field crews to repair damage and restore service, as about 80 utility contractors from National Grid in Massachusetts and Con Edison Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island operations centers came in to supplement the efforts of O&R crews and contractors.
