Donate Life Rockland Hosts Free BBQ

From Donate Life Rockland: Donate Life Rockland is celebrating Rockland’s success as a leader in sharing the Gift of Life. Rockland’s organ donor registration rate is now 24% of the population, more than double the previous 11% rate. Come to the “pop-up” free Bar-B-Que on Wednesday, August 22nd, at noon at Building A of the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona. Set your navigation to 50 Sanatorium Road and follow your nose to a fun afternoon. It is not necessary to register as a future organ donor, but you’ll get a free raffle ticket for a Bluetooth speaker if you do. The Inserra Shop Rite organization is supporting the celebration by donating all the BBQ supplies. The celebrity chefs include Rockland’s four top elected officials: County Executive Ed Day, Sheriff Lou Falco, District Attorney Tom Zugibe and County Clerk Paul Piperato.

Everyone is invited to “pop in” and meet organ recipients, donors and donor families. Bring your friends and family for a great lunch and join the big crowd of happy faces as we show the world that Rockland really is the healthiest place to be.

The New York Blood Center is hosting a Blood Drive in honor of former Veteran's Service Agency Director Jerry Donnellan inside the lobby of Building A. You can donate blood and then step outside for a nutritious and delicious lunch. New York is currently experiencing a severe blood shortage so the Gift of Life will be useful right away.
