ORANGETOWN, NY — A driver who led police on a short chase down the New York Thruway faces several charges in Orangetown Court.
State police said a trooper tried to stop a car on I-87 in Orangetown at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 5. Instead of stopping, the driver began weaving through traffic.
However, the pursuit was brief, police said. The driver pulled over and troopers identified him as Joshua E. Grant, 21, of Chester, NY.

During a probable cause search, about 10 grams of marijuana were located in the car, police allege.
Grant was taken into custody and transported to the state police office in Tarrytown where he was subsequently charged with:

- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Reckless Endangerment, a Class B Misdemeanor
- Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation

Grant was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Orangetown Court on Oct. 23.
