Pearl River HS Student Dies After Car Plunges Off Overpass
Orangetown police said a car with several people slid off an overpass, landed on train tracks and caught fire.
PEARL RIVER, NY — A Pearl River High School student was killed when a car plunged off Route 304 onto New Jersey Transit train tracks after a multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. in the vicinity of the Crooked Hill Road overpass in Pearl River, the Orangetown Police Department said.
Multiple people were trapped inside the car, which landed on the tracks and caught fire, authorities said.
Orangetown police said there were "serious injuries to multiple occupants." Patch confirmed a Pearl River High School student was killed in the crash. We are withholding the student's name until police release it.

Route 304 remained closed Sunday night in both directions between the Rockland County line and the New Jersey State line.
New Jersey Transit Pascack Valley Line service was suspended between Woodcliff Lake Station and Nanuet Station. The crash investigation may impact Pascack Valley Line service Monday morning.
