Letter To The Editor: Carlucci On Rockland State Of Emergency

To the Editor

The measles outbreak in Rockland County is the largest outbreak in the United States since the disease was eradicated 19 years ago. We need to follow the science and get our children vaccinated so the disease does not spread.

I am taking action and calling for the passage of legislation [ Senate Bill S.2994] to end exemptions except for medical reasons. This legislation is about protecting public safety and the public’s health from the spread of a potentially deadly disease.

We need to be united and address the real health crisis in Rockland County and the rest of New York State.
