Lodge 2176 of Sons of Italy Wins Bocce Tournament
The Blauvelt lodge hosted the first-ever event for District 5.

The Blauvelt Lodge 2176 of the Sons of Italy hosted the first ever District 5 Bocce Tournament last month. There was fierce competition from five teams but ultimately the Lodge 2176 emerged victorious!
Team members for Lodge 2176 included Greg DeCola, Paul Borghese, Rich Bonardi, Carl Dornbush, Rich Delponte, Lou Ferrara, Joe Saccao and Jimmy "The Hat.”
The second place trophy went to members of the H.H. Rogers/Cabrini Lodge from Tuxedo, NY, led by Lodge Financial Secretary Jerry Mottola who was joined by his wife Dale Mottola, as well as Gino Miraglia and his wife Esther Miraglia.

The Bocce Court at the Sons of Italy Lodge 2176 was built by members of the Blauvelt Sons of Italy in memory of Honorary Member Nunzio ‘Lew’ Borgese and was donated by his son Paul in memory of his father in 2010. It is complete with lighting for night play as well as spectator seating.
The Rockland Lodge 2176 of the Order of The Sons of Italy in America was established in 1966 with the goal of enhancing the image of people of Italian descent and has grown into one of the most active organizations in the area. In addition to giving scholarship to students, funds raised through various events are donated to a variety of charitable organizations in and around the area.
