Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Fatal Stabbing At Oiso
Officials said there were about 100 people drinking and dancing in the shuttered restaurant when the fight broke out.
BLAUVELT, NY — A West Haverstraw man faces charges connected to a fight March 6 at Oiso Restaurant on Route 303.
Two people were stabbed and one of them died — Caneggio A. Grant, 30, of Nanuet.
The Oiso restaurant is closed to the public and up for sale. According to social media reports, people have been hosting a kind of weekend club there. The liquor license is held by Blauvelt Coach Diner Inc. Officials said there were about 100 people drinking and dancing in the building when the fight broke out. After the fight, police searched the New York metro area for Darin W. Peterson of West Haverstraw, who they said turned himself in March 15.
Peterson was charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree, a class 'A' Felony, and Assault in the First Degree, a class 'B" Felony. The 27-year-old was arraigned by the Honorable Richard Finning in the Orangetown Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Correctional Center.
