1. When did your business open? February 2019.

2. How did you come up with the name? Picking a name was hard, but we knew right away that “Tilly” was a keeper. It started as a play on “tilling your land” and the idea of really caring for and taking pride in your outdoor spaces. We also wanted to make it friendly and accessible and the name Tilly just worked on all fronts. It’s like she’s your new best friend in landscape design.

3. Why start a business in this town? Tilly’s services are nationwide, but we are very focused on Rockland County as it’s literally in our head designer’s backyard. This has also been the perfect location to launch Tilly’s installation service, now available across the tri-state area, meaning we are a full service company from inspiration to installation! It’s a one shop stop!

4. What business are you in? Online Landscape Design. Tilly's mission is to take the intimidation out of the world of landscaping and make high-end, beautiful design available and affordable to every homeowner. With a highly digitized world, Tilly seeks to challenge the antiquated landscape space and create a simple user-friendly experience that caters to the customer's schedule, budget, and busy multi-tasking lifestyle. Founded by four working moms, with ten kids between them, time saving services, cost-friendly experiences, and improving your home is a huge win. Tilly's packages start at $75 and go up to $675 for a redesign of your entire property! Installation services are available to all of Rockland county.

5. What's the most difficult challenge you've faced starting a new business? There have been many hurdles, but we’ve been lucky to be able to pull from our four co-founders’business backgrounds – which are all very different so each contribute something unique. We built the website ourselves, which was definitely a new endeavor! But, since launching, we’ve been received extremely well and consider ourselves very lucky.

6. What's one highlight you've had since opening? It’s been excited to see how quickly word of Tilly spreads! We’ve done designs for homes from California, Denver, Tampa, Virginia, and tons in the Tri-State area. It’s been hugely rewarding to be able to help people who previously couldn’t afford design services.

7. How does your business give back to the community? From day one, Tilly has been an active member of the community. Our designers have generously donated their time to many awesome nonprofits in the NY area. Making our communities more beautiful and giving back is one of our core values so we have plans to do more work in our hometown communities as we grow.
