O&R Finishing Up Repairs To Outages Caused By Overnight Winds
The highest wind speed reported to the National Weather Service was 49 mph at Stewart Airport.
PEARL RIVER, NY — Orange & Rockland company overhead line crews and tree removal experts continued Tuesday to repair wind damage and restore power to the last of its more than 1,900 customers who lost electricity overnight in Rockland and Orange counties in New York and in northern New Jersey.
Service to thousands in the Hudson Valley was interrupted by gusting winds well into the morning.
Damage was less in Rockland than in the mid-Hudson, where more than 15,000 CenHud customers lost power. The worst-hit was Ulster County, where as of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday there were still more than 6,100 customers without electricity.

The National Weather Service reported a wind speed of 44 mph was recorded in Suffern during the storm. The highest wind speeds in the lower Hudson Valley were 49 mph at Stewart Airport and 52 mph at Westchester County Airport.
