Orangeburg Man Mowing Lawn Killed By Impaired Driver: Police
An Englewood, New Jersey, man faces charges.
ORANGEBURG, NY — A Rockland County man mowing his lawn at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday was hit by a car and killed, and the driver, a New Jersey resident, faces a manslaughter charge.
Orangetown police closed Lester Drive between Orangeburg Road and Howard Avenue for hours during their investigation.
Giovanni Boiano, 53, was cutting the grass on Lester Drive near Henry Street. Police alleged Jared DeVera, of Englewood, New Jersey, lost control of his car while driving south on Lester and struck Boiano, The Journal News reported.

Police alleged that DeVera, 29, was impaired. Bail was set at $100,000 and he was sent to the Rockland County jail, TJN reported.
He is charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
