Police Probe Fatal Stabbing In Blauvelt

A big fight took place Saturday night in what used to be the Oiso restaurant on Route 303, Orangetown police said.

BLAUVELT, NY — A Nanuet man died Sunday from stab wounds he received during a Saturday night fight at the Oiso restaurant on Route 303, Orangetown police reported.

Police were headed to the fight at 10:50 p.m. after receiving calls about shots fired. They then learned that two stabbing victims had been taken to the emergency room at Montefiore Nyack Hospital and one had been transferred to the Westchester Medical Center.

Caneggio A. Grant, 30, died at WMC, police said.

Police discovered there had been a big fight, which resulted in the stabbings, and that shots were fired as people fled the violence. No one was shot, police said.

Witnesses of the incident are asked to call police investigators at 845-359-3700.

Clarkstown police, Ramapo police, the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Rockland County District Attorney's Office and state police assisted, Orangetown police said.

The location at 587 Rte. 303 was a Korean restaurant and is now up for sale; according to social media reports people have been using the space as a club.
