The chorale, which practices in Pearl River, was recently honored by Rockland County lawmakers.

PEARL RIVER, NY - From Rockland County Legislature: At the invitation of Legislator Alden H. Wolfe, members of the Rockland Camerata offered a wonderful performance of “The Awakening” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Rockland County Legislature this week.
The Camerata, or choir, endeavors to share and promote the enjoyment of classical music. The nonprofit organization, celebrating its 40th anniversary season in 2018-19, has about 40 members.
It is directed by professional singer, conductor and educator Matthew Rupcich, with accompaniment from professional soloist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist and educator YiKyung Diana Hughes.

The Camerata offers audiences a rich variety of both sacred and secular music selections that date from the 16th century through to present day compositions. The organization’s dedicated men and women - sopranos, altos, tenors and basses - enjoy the opportunity to engage with fine music and perform with professional instrumentalists and vocal soloists.
“Without organizations such as Rockland Camerata, local residents might never be afforded the opportunity to experience classical choral music either as a performer or an audience member,” Legislator Wolfe said. “I’m really pleased to support the Camerata and by extension, its many efforts to bring this wonderful music to our residents.”
